Nashville’s Bordeaux neighborhood welcomes new health center

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Many residents of Nashville’s Bordeaux neighborhood are celebrating their first and only health center.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at the new Nashville Healthcare Center Bordeaux. The area is considered a health desert as Bordeaux has lacked adequate access to healthcare for decades.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said not having adequate healthcare can lead to higher rates of diabetes, hypertension, obesity, asthma, and heart disease. This is even more of a problem among African Americans who deal with a high proportion of health disparities.
