Open seven days a week, 24 hours a day, the Emergency Department at Nashville General provides immediate treatment, lifesaving procedures and stabilization of all types of medical, surgical, obstetrical and pediatric emergencies. Our highly trained staff provides quality healthcare services to acutely ill patients. We evaluate and treat minor injuries and illnesses and provide emergency care.
There are 22 total rooms within the Emergency Department at Nashville General which include:
- Two negative pressure rooms
- ENT/eye procedure room
- Two gynecological rooms
- Three psychiatric rooms
- Six general treatment rooms (including two pediatric rooms)
- Four minor medical/trauma express care rooms
- Four cardiac/major trauma rooms (one exclusively for pediatric emergencies and emergent labor and delivery)
Our highly skilled physicians, physician assistants, nurses and nurse practitioners are certified in:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Pediatric Life Support (PLS)
- Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP)
- Emergency Nursing Pediatric Program (ENCP)
- Trauma Nursing Care Course (TNCC)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Critical Care
Services within the Emergency Department’s trauma unit are enhanced by dedicated diagnostic equipment, including imaging equipment and a bedside ultrasonograph. There is a separate orthopedic treatment area and an “Express Care” area to provide rapid evaluation of chest pain.
Our Emergency Department also provides care for Metropolitan Nashville employees who sustain job related injuries or illnesses.
Access to Spanish translators is available round-the clock and crisis treatment is provided in cases of sexual assault against adults, children and adolescents.
